A door or two in Toulouse

I have to admit, I had complete and utter, shutter envy in Toulouse. Everywhere I looked there were handsome windows and doors.

Complementing the rose coloured bricks, or waiting to be spruced up with a coat of paint, whenever I raised my eyes, there they were.

No shortage of stylish portals either, and bikes to whizz you around, between them.

Few entrances could be more gracious than this, Notre-Dame de la Dalbade.

And I will return to the Basilica of Saint Sernin on my Monday walk, because you really need to see inside. But my favourite door in Toulouse was far less elegant. As we walked from the railway station to our apartment we passed this building, in the process of demolition. Clouds of dust rose as the bricks crashed to the floor. I doubt very much that she’s still there.

Dan’s having fun this week, over on Thursday Doors. I had so many photos of doors and shutters in Toulouse, that I didn’t know what else to do with them. Have a great weekend, all!

  1. Wow, can one place have so many beautiful and interesting doors and windows! And the detail with which some of those doors are surrounded is stunning. Ok, I just want to look and look and look … and look some more 👀.
